Palisades Day Camp: Sports, Swimming, Crafts and FRIENDS!
1. A set SCHEDULE for the week will be posted on the bulletin board,
emailed to the camp listserv and kept in the camp folder.
a) Each day, all campers are required and expected to participate in the
so designated THREE AWESOME ACTIVITIES. These activities may include
soccer, basketball, ping pong, badminton, swimming, dodgeball, etc … It must be
made clear that awesome activities are the “must participate” part of the
day, perhaps designated by a star or bolded on the schedule.
b) Sports will be determined based upon the weather forecast. For
example, the hottest part of the day will be reserved for water sports.
c) The schedule will include specific blocks for Board Game time, Crafts
(we will supply the crafts) or Reading Time, Free Swim, of Free Time on the
sport court or in the playground. Counselors need and will be able to
account for each child’s whereabouts at all times.
d) Each day of the week will have one special activity that the children
can always count on. For example: Friday: BBQ cookout or Pizza, Thursday:
Water balloon/water gun day, Wednesday: scavenger hunt, Tuesday hike to Canal,
Monday Tennis Challenge, etc … These are only suggestions, the counselors are
still finalizing things.
2. The COUNSELORS will verbalize the expectations for the campers and
volunteers at the beginning of each week.
a) Disrespect, unwillingness to cooperate, and foul language from
campers will not be tolerated. The Counselors will work with a three strikes
warning system. The first strike is a verbal warning, the second strike the child
will be “docked” and asked to sit out for ten minutes, the third strike the
child’s parent will be called and asked to pick up their child.
After a parent has picked up a child two times, the child will no longer be
welcome back at the camp for the rest of the summer. There will be no
refunds.
b) Counselors must tell the children at the beginning of each week that
they are expected to participate in the awesome activities, the three strike
system, and that courtesy and respectfulness are expected by all.
3. The CAMPERS are required to store all their bags and clothing in the
locker rooms. They may not leave them in the breezeways, the picnic areas
nor upper deck area. In addition, no soda pop Mon-Thursday. They may only
purchase soda pop on Fridays.
If anyone has any questions or items you think we need to add to help make
this the best camp ever for our children, please don't hesitate to email me
back.
Thank you, Brenda
